Editing photos can be very useful and improve picture quality.

Isolating Subject

If you’ve seen stock photos you’ve probably noticed how the background is pure white.

This can be done with any photo editing software. Simply outline the background and delete it. Feathering the background also will make the outline less obvious and more realistic. Correcting the color, brightness, and contrast also will make the photo look better. Adjusting the levels to a more normal level will make the bright spots and dark spots of the picture look better.

The picture below is a great example. The original picture of the snow on the left is fine but the snow looks somewhat bluish and not white. With stock photos the snow's gotta be white. So through messing with the levels, brightness, and hues I got the snow to be white and more "snowy" looking.
