Using the Right Keywords
When someone types a word in the micro stock photo search that word yields many photos that have keywords for those words. If that word they typed in is relevant to your photo, it definately should be a keyword of yours.
When thinking of what keywords to use you should always look at your picture. What words does this picture tell? What emotions does it evoke? What is the primary color? What is it? Be extremely careful to chose the right keywords as some stock photo websites like Fotolia do not allow you to change your keywords after submitting them.
In choosing keywords, relevance is key! Don't write keywords that have nothing to do with the picture in an attempt to get more visitors.
Be creative when you choose keywords. Try to think outside of the box. If you've got a photo of a cup of coffee then obviously the first keyword to come to mind would be "coffee". But there are many other choices such as "wake up", "morning", "caffeine". Finding other keywords others wouldn't think of right off the bat will give you less competitive keywords.
Misspelled Words
Using misspelled words in your keywords will help get others searching quick for pictures. If they’re searching for photos quick chances are they want a photo to use immediately. Their urgency can equal a download and sell.
